February 9, 2008 Its race time once again and Airtype is represented at the 50th Annual Daytona 500. Airtype designed the Junior Johnson Midnight Moon logo which is the primary sponsor for the #70 HAAS Racing Chevy driven my Jeremy Mayfield. Check it out on the track February 17th on FOX! Thanks to all our clients for a breakthrough 2007. We have been so busy we haven't updated our site since we launched it last April. We've got an enormous batch of new work going up soon, so hang tight... We Are Live! April 24, 2007 Welcome to our first real website. It's still a work in progress but we figured we post it anyways. Launch the media player & browse around. Lots more good stuff coming. Currently we only have 92 of 785 portfolio items entered, so check back regularly. Dove Award Nomination April 1, 2007 Great things happen when you least expect them. Last month we were completely distracted by packing, painting, moving and unpacking. Everyone was tired and getting by day to day. Then one little email changed everything. We are very excited to announce that Airtype Studio has been nominated for a Dove Award in the category ‘Recorded Music Packaging of the Year’ for Sony/Flicker recording artist “Eleventyseven”. Put simply, they like our stuff…which is always encouraging to hear. So, be on the lookout for the airing of the 38th GMA Dove Awards on April 25, 2007. Next month we’ll post a picture of Bryan in his new suit. 2007 Zippo Nascar Lighter Series March 25, 2007 We like to keep you guessing when it comes to the question “Who will Airtype work with next?” By staying true to our southern roots one of our new relationships is with Zippo Motorsports® and NASCAR®. We currently have two lighter designs (Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Kasey Khane) in Zippo’s motorsports brochure and will have two more (Dale Earnhardt and another Kasey Khane) coming out this summer. Movin On Up... March 1, 2007 Airtype now calls downtown Winston-Salem home. A few good men put a lot of sweat into this place and we’re all appreciative. Our space, on the fifth floor of the historic O’Hanlon Building, is still a work in progress but with a lot of help from Ikea we know the finished product will be great. We’ve got Starbucks around the corner, Mellow Mushroom one block west and a Quizno’s and Bruegger’s opening this summer…what more could we ask for? If you are local or just happen to be in the area be sure to stop in for a visit. Now, it's time to get some shopping done... Happy Halloween October 30, 2006 It's that time of year again. Starting to get a bit chilly here in NC & DC. Our developers are still in the dungeon pounding out client work so we have made ZERO progress on our new site. Even this tiny site is way out of date. We counted over 1200 portfolio pieces the the other day, who knows when we'll ever launch a real site. We're booked for months, so who cares? Airtype's been busier than ever, spreading our wings outside of the music industry a bit, although that will always be our passion. Even though they didn't use our cd packaging, [accented by our favorite photographer Jeremy Cowart] , pick up some cool merch we did @ a show. New site for the vintage band Leslie is live. Martin Chalk site is live & record in stores. Evoka's new mini site is now live & in action. Debut LP coming Fall '06. New ep by now retired pop rockers The Argument. If you haven't heard them, do yourself a favor & check out a great band from the NE called "The Alternate Routes". We handled the cd packaging/album photography needs. DC heavyweights Virginia Coalition are out touring the great land. Go to a show & dance, & while you're at it grab some sweet merch that we designed. Buckybay Ebay trading site is live. Go sell. Announcing Airtype Studio April 1, 2006 For those who didn't know or were getting confused, The Zoo Agency became Airtype Studio in April of 2006. What's the skinny on Airtype? We like the atmosphere & typography so we morphed it all into one entity. In the near future we are planning to open up an online store w/ a custom clothing line, some exclusive designs & cool merch for sale. So bare with us as we create the new site featuring 100's & 100's of portfolio items & a look inside what we do. It's been a busy time, here's what's been going down: Eleventyseven [Sony/Flicker] in stores now. Jules Shear [Mad Dragon/Ryko] in stores nationwide Mar 14. Although not widely known in the US, an Icon in England, this guy is a legend, wrote some of the biggest hits back in the day for the likes of Cyndi Lauper/Bangles etc. Ever heard of MTV Unplugged? Thank him for that one as well. I could have listened to his stories all day, but we had album photography to shoot. Blue Dogs [Black River/Redeye] new site & "Live @ Workplay" record in stores now. A few other items on the plate include Catdaddy Carolina Moonshine [coming to a bar near you], FSO [West Coast Choppers, Dubs, Blue Rhino] coming to a Wal-Mart near you, DJBoy music store, & a ton more of other things. MODA Graphic Noise Exhibition March 15, 2006 Museum of Design Atlanta/Smithsonian exhibition on music/show posters entitled "Graphic Noise" is travelling to schools nationwide.
